I mentioned before that I started this project to create a graphic novel about Robert Smalls’ life based on a meme. That meme asked why Robert Small’s story wasn’t being made into a film. It’s a question I see often: “Why isn’t there a Robert Smalls movie?!”
Therefore it’s great news that it is being made into a film!
“Steal Away“, directed by Charles Burnett, is the film being made of Robert Smalls incredible story, partly based upon Cate Lineberry’s great book about him: “Be Free or Die”.
However, I should point out, that I have absolutely no involvement in this Robert Smalls movie. My graphic novel is an entirely separate project.
